In regards to my textual analysis, in has helped me quite significantly as for a start without this analysis i would still be fairly naive to the many factors of the products and for a starts i wouldn't have a very good idea on things like how the themes of the products follow guidelines which they have to somewhat meet as if they dont then their chosen target market would be as inclined to buy the companies product, this is why for example magazine companies focus quite a lot on the actual front cover as this is the first part of the magazine you will see and though they say not to judge a book by its cover more often then not you will judge, if you don't like the front cover then you wont be very likely to buy the magazine, the front cover gives a impression of how good the magazine is going to be and whats it going to be about. So now after doing the analysis i know what good companies do in order to appeal to the maximum amount of people, i know what things i need to include on my piece of pre-production and the work i have analysis has gave me a idea of what sort of work i should be looking for.
By analysing different kinds of work i now know what sort of things that will interest the different kinds of target markets, so with this i have a very good idea of how my pre-production can and will appeal to my target market and i have a good idea of the themes/ colours i need to include, I understand the things they use to interest a reader and i now know how i can apply professional techniques to my work, so it also is appealing to a large audience. I know what my work has to be/look like so it meets a professional standard, which ultimately is the main goal of mine (Professional looking work) as this is what is going to impact my grade quite a lot.
The other thing i used to get ideas of how to achieve good looking work is surveys in which i created one and sent it of to numerous people (mainly classmates), by analysis the survey results i got a understanding of what some people would like to see in my work and generally got a understanding of what they like to see in professionals work and what interests them to buy certain products.
With all the information i gathered about various different types of media and which sort of types i, myself should do for my pre-production. I chose to do a CD cover as i felt all the information i gathered sort of pointed me in this direction as i felt like i could do this type better then the other kinds and overall i felt this type would provide both the best grade and also i would enjoy working on it which i believe impacts the final result a lot. The survey helped me choose this and also helped in regards to me picking my target audience and which kind of CD cover will work best. With the survey it helped me understand ages of the people that listen to this kind of music and how i should use this/include this information into the theme of my work in order to make my target audience actually like my end result.
target audience = Young students, female, colour conations(pink)
Pink is a non-threatening colour seeking appreciation, respect and admiration. It doesn't like to be taken for granted and just loves to hear the words 'thank you'.
False sense of security,
Pink is quite a girly colour.

Media Choice - I have chosen to do a CD cover, this CD cover will follow a theme which is to do with my chosen genre, this is indie rock. Representation Task - TV Show - Gender
Jack Ratcliffe
The Big Bang Theory is America's highest rated comedy. It is regularly E4's most watched show on our side of the Atlantic and can definitely be said to divide opinion. Is it funny or just plain stupid? Does it laugh at nerd culture or with it? And is it sexist or not?
The programme bases itself entirely on stereotypes in a huge number of ways and given its subject matter, a lot of these are drawn from those typically found in the sci-fi/fantasy genre; a world in which historically the men are the heroes and the woman are skimpily-clothed and more than slightly helpless.
"The women of the show are constantly sexualised, a major issue in sci-fi and fantasy which has been highlighted by groups like The Hawkeye Initiative. Particularly in the earlier seasons, Penny seems to be portrayed as the archetypal "helpless blonde bimbo" needing to be saved from her pedestrian life by our oh-so-intelligent lead characters. For quite a while she has virtually no character besides being hot and not very academic when compared to the hoards of scientists that populate the show. After six seasons she still doesn't even have a last name! Penny is the clearest example of the programme objectifying women, though in no way is the practise limited to her. All four of the main characters (though particularly Howard) have very cavalier attitudes towards dating, with it made clear that sex is often the main goals of these adventures." I have found an article on the Daily Mail website, this article is titled Royal Family helps UK tourism
this article is basically all about how great the royal family are. The article also includes figures on how much money via tourism the royal family brings in. All the things said in this article are good, positive remarks about the family and what they do for this country, i think this may be influenced by the fact the royal family is a representation of the country. Most people would say that they like the Royal family this means that the article will be popular with majority of the public. due to this if any form of media had a negative representation then the majority of the British public would dislike this and the newspaper would receive hate.

The Daily Mail is run by conservatives meaning they are linked with the royal family and want to be on the family's good side.

Magazine Front Cover Task
Magazine Front Cover Task
The red ‘Q’ sign highlights that this is the front cover of a highly popular music magazine which is distributed across the UK monthly. On this cover the main image is a image of the Arctic Monkeys who are a well known indie rock band from the UK, with the magazine being published in UK and this band being from the UK many people in the UK may look up to this band and be inspired by their work and how they have gotten so big, they are a global success. This helps the magazine get more readers as people in the UK more often then not, really like the Arctic Monkeys and the music they produce. The magazine also features articles about different bands which themselves have different genres the helps the magazine gain readers as some people may not necessary be interested in the Arctic Monkeys but may be interested in the other artists that feature on this issue of 'Q' such as Arcade Fire , Green Day, Nirvana, Haim and Rizzle Kicks. This is so that the magazine can attract more readers. The big bright red logo of 'Q' magazine is a indicator of what magazine it is this can be used so that regular readers of 'Q' can locate this magazine easily on a shelve filled with other magazines. Also with this issue being a 17 page collectors special with rare photos will encourage collectors and other readers to buy the magazine. The date which is located in the bottom right hand corner allows people to keep up to date with the magazines but allows collectors to keep all magazines in order.
The target audience for 'Q' magazine is typically people who have a strong interest in music and are aged around 20-45, of both genders. With the magazine being aimed at a generally older audience in comparison to other magazines for example 'Sugar'. The fact that the target audience us slightly older means that the magazine can be a bit more expensive than if it was aimed at just young people as the majority of older people have paid jobs or have money to spare. Also with this audience it allows the magazine to be able to contain more information and can overall write what it wants. The magazine has a very large audience as it is a popular magazine and is suited to all music lovers.

Peaky B
Peaky Blinders
Peaky Blinders is a crime-drama TV program which is set in Birmingham 1919 and is aired on BBC Two. BBC Two focuses on programmes about arts. culture and drama. This is so that the BBC break out into a audience which is not covered by other BBC television channels.
A negotiated audience enjoy the text but feel it lacks something due to lack of budget that this show has. The reader partly shares the text's code and broadly accepts the preferred reading, but sometimes resists and modifies it in a way which reflects their own position, experiences and interests.
A oppositional response to the text was that it was all style no substance. Again some people blamed this on lack of budget. Also with Peaky Blinders only having 6 episodes a season people feel that character development was rushed and the plots are underdeveloped.
Direct oppositional relation to the dominant code, understands the preferred reading but does not share the text's code and rejects the reading.
A preferred reading on the show is that the people really enjoy the show and like the message that the director is trying to get across. They like the setting, cast and story and overall have no complaints about the show at all
