This Girl Can

This Girl Can
In this video women are not being represented because of how attractive they are but rather represents them as powerful, showing they do whatever they want. As this image is captioned 'deal with it'. Saying anyone who is against us just have to deal with it because they are going to do it whether people mind or not, they are going to keep on doing the sport and don't care what people have to say about it. The advert is telling us that women of all shapes and sizes have the right to do sport and feel good about themselves. With the image of the women readjusting her swimming trunks there is a cultural reference to a David Beckham advert in which he was very much sexualised and objectified, but in this case we are not objectifying the female, it's just showing a female doing the sport that she loves. The advert is telling women not to be ashamed of their bodies, they don't need a size 0 figure to be able to enjoy sport activities. Another cultural reference the fact that the video is shows us all different kinds of females in Britain relation to the racial diversity we have in the country. This is also sending the message that you can do whatever you want. It doesn't matter what size, race or class you are.
Most of the camera angles used are close ups of the females face showing their emotions; their dedication, passion and the pain they go through.
