Magazine Front Cover Task
The red ‘Q’ sign highlights that this is the front cover of a highly popular music magazine which is distributed across the UK monthly. On this cover the main image is a image of the Arctic Monkeys who are a well known indie rock band from the UK, with the magazine being published in UK and this band being from the UK many people in the UK may look up to this band and be inspired by their work and how they have gotten so big, they are a global success. This helps the magazine get more readers as people in the UK more often then not, really like the Arctic Monkeys and the music they produce. The magazine also features articles about different bands which themselves have different genres the helps the magazine gain readers as some people may not necessary be interested in the Arctic Monkeys but may be interested in the other artists that feature on this issue of 'Q' such as Arcade Fire , Green Day, Nirvana, Haim and Rizzle Kicks. This is so that the magazine can attract more readers. The big bright red logo of 'Q' magazine is a indicator of what magazine it is this can be used so that regular readers of 'Q' can locate this magazine easily on a shelve filled with other magazines. Also with this issue being a 17 page collectors special with rare photos will encourage collectors and other readers to buy the magazine. The date which is located in the bottom right hand corner allows people to keep up to date with the magazines but allows collectors to keep all magazines in order.
The target audience for 'Q' magazine is typically people who have a strong interest in music and are aged around 20-45, of both genders. With the magazine being aimed at a generally older audience in comparison to other magazines for example 'Sugar'. The fact that the target audience us slightly older means that the magazine can be a bit more expensive than if it was aimed at just young people as the majority of older people have paid jobs or have money to spare. Also with this audience it allows the magazine to be able to contain more information and can overall write what it wants. The magazine has a very large audience as it is a popular magazine and is suited to all music lovers.
